MdHIMA Members Demonstrated the Value of Volunteering

Patience Ebuwei, DBA, MPH, RHIA
MdHIMA 2023-2024 President

Volunteering is the bedrock of non-profit organizations like pd探花. For the pd探花23 Conference in Baltimore, MD, October 8-10, members of the Maryland Health Information Management Association (MdHIMA) showed up, put in the time, and made the pd探花 conference successful. Making it successful did not start in a vacuum: it all began with MdHIMA board member Brenda Watson, MLS, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CRC, CPMA, leading, coordinating, and organizing volunteers. Success can be measured through several lenses, but today, MdHIMA measures the conference's success through the lens of the volunteers who showed up, put in the time, and answered the call to serve.

Boosting this momentum can also be attributed to the partnerships MdHIMA board members have forged over the years with pd探花-accredited schools in Maryland; the meet-and-greet meetings which led to students and graduates volunteering; as well as the dedication of past board members who have served and continue to serve and saw pd探花23 as a collaborative effort so stepped up to volunteer. The volunteers also showed the inclusiveness of the board and the entire MdHIMA membership.

The MdHIMA board extends our gratitude to the pd探花 event team leadership, who worked closely with us throughout the past year to have a seamless conference. We couldn鈥檛 have been as organized and effective without coordination and assistance.

As the MdHIMA 2023-2024 president, I sincerely thank all the pd探花 event team leaders, MdHIMA board members, committee members, members, students, and graduates who volunteered at the pd探花23 Conference. Every one of you emulates the legacy of pd探花 founder, Grace Whiting Meyers.

Sincerely,

Patience Ebuwei, DBA, MPH, RHIA
